    Co-edited with Dr. Cassie Rosita Patterson, this volume brings together community partners, students, and instructors involved with the Ohio Field School from 2015-2020 to explore the diverse manifestations and outcomes of the collaborative effort. Under contract with University Press of Kentucky.

  • Attempting Counter-Extractive Methodologies in Appalachia (2023)

    This piece was written for the Cambridge University Social Anthropology Society (CUSAS) Magazine issue “Methodologies for Decolonisation.” In the essay, I explore the possibilities and shortfalls of conducting collaborative ethnography in SE Ohio, whose history of extraction has left deep economic, social, environmental, and documentary impacts.

  • The Ohio Field School: A Collaborative Model for University-Community Research (2020)

    Co-authored with Katherine Borland and Cassie Rosita Patterson, this Journal of Folklore and Education article discusses the underlying structure of the field school and its position and impacts in Appalachian Ohio.
